WOOLWORTH-to-B&Q group Kingfisher has made music by taking an 85 per cent share in an online entertainment site for £15.7 million.
The retailer, whose B&Q division is based at Chandler's Ford, is taking a majority stake in Streets Online, which operates various websites offering music, DVDs, games and books.
Streets Online chief executive John Croft said the move confirmed his firm was "leader in the e-commerce field".
He said: "I am very happy about the sale.
"I think in the current environment it is a very good deal for shareholders, for staff and for the long-term future of the business."
