The annual bonfire night celebrations look set to go with a bang in Winchester on Saturday night (November 4th) when the city's Round Table hosts its 42nd firework display.
The event, which is being backed by the Hampshire Chronicle Group, starts at 5.30pm with entertainment outside the Guildhall followed by the traditional torchlight procession to the North Walls recreation ground where the mayor, Georgie Busher, will light the bonfire.
Youngsters are being encouraged to bring their own guys along for a competition.
The mayor will judge the guys at 7pm shortly before lighting the bonfire.
On offer to the overall winner is a Solar Flyer toy which has been donated by Warren & Son Ltd.
There will also be a prize for the winner of the lucky programme contest.
The fireworks will be set off at 7.30pm.
All money raised by the event will go to local charities.
Among those who benefited from last year's bonfire festivities were the Naomi House children's hospice, the Special care Baby unit at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital and the Winchester Boys' Club.
