LEADING British composer Mark-Anthony Turnage will be giving opera-lovers a rare chance to find out just what goes into a show in a "discovery session" preceding a performance of his opera Greek on Saturday.
Based on the Steven Berkoff play of the same name, Greek is set amid the urban sprawl of 1980s London and features a host of international opera stars as well as music from the London Sinfonettia.
The opera will be performed at the Turner Sims Concert Hall, Southampton, at 7.30pm this Saturday.
The discovery session and a pre-concert talk, from 2pm to 5pm, will be led by Turnage, who composed the opera, and will also include performances of music composed by A Level music students at Taunton's College, Southampton. For tickets and information, call the Turner Sims box office on 023 8059 5151.
