Hat-tricks came at the double for the ladies of Southampton Hockey Club's second team as they romped to an 11-0 win over Middleton and Bognor.

Liz Walker and Jenny Kimber were the three-scoring heroes with strikes from Nicki Le Bas (2), Kay Whittingham (2) and Becky Mortimer completing the scoring.

The thirds put on a goal-scoring spurt in the second half against Chichester Vets to win 8-0 with Anna Skelton (2), Clare Butcher (2), Suzanne Quinton and Becky Thornton (3) netting.

Middleton and Bognor were also beaten by the fourths, who cruised to a 5-1 win, courtesy of Karina Christiansen (2), Lyn Price, Maria Blake and Amy White, while the fifths drew 2-2 in a friendly against Andover with Natasha Hart and Charlotte Page scoring.

At Under-19 level, Leah Thorneywell was outstanding in goal as Southampton drew 0-0 and the seconds beat a young Gosport side 3-0 thanks to Amanda Royle, Hannah Pearce and Anvi Sheath.

Hampshire Under-18s defeated Kent 5-4 with Hollie Nutt and Alex Williams getting on the scoresheet, the Under-16s drew 0-0 but the mixed team beat Swanage 4-0 with goals from Karina Christiansen (2), Bex Sharr and Mark Day.

It was not such a good day for Southampton men's first team who went down 4-1 at Petersfield but the seconds scored a convincing 6-0 victory over local rivals Old Edwardians with strikes from Danny Roche (3), Chris Stokes, Rhobet Williams and Pete Graham doing the damage.

Despite having to play in the evening, the thirds ran out 5-0 winners against Poole while the fourths (Ed Thorn) lost 2-1 against Fareham.

Southampton fifths and Southampton Otters fought out an exciting 5-5 Hampshire Open League cup match. Colin Langridge (3), Michael Foulds and Tony Heaton netted for the fifths with Robin Martin (2), Robert O'Brien, Henry Swizinto and Ali Brown replying before the Otters edged the penalty shootout 3-2.

The Masters went down 5-1 to Richmond who contained two former England internationals. Paul Meacher scored the consolation as the senior vets defeated Trojans (Gordon Small 2) 5-2 thanks to strikes from Robin Meacher, Geoff Ingram (2), Martin Wood and Bill Stokes.

There was cup success for the sixths who scraped through to the next round with a 2-1 win over Guilford courtesy of Chris Thomson and Veal while the Under-16 boys went down 7-0 to Winchester and Old Edwardians (Neil Offa) lost 7-1 against Portsmouth University.

Hamble's first team suffered a setback by losing 3-1 to Weymouth, the seconds cruised to an 8-0 victory over Weymouth, the thirds lost on penalties after holding Portsmouth Uni to a draw, the fourths went down 5-1 to Aldershot while the Under-16s showed the rest of the club the winning way by beating Andover 16-0.
