Mansun (review) Southampton University.
WHEN it comes to reliability then you could put your mortgage on Mansun.
For good ole' Mansun are the last bastions of indie rock (although don't tell them that) are still going stronger than ever.
When Oasis were banging out of every pub jukebox in the land, and Blur were dominating Chris Evans' Radio One Breakfast Show, Mansun kept their heads down and produced classics such as wide Open Space, She Makes My Nose Bleed and Taxloss.
Now five years and one dodgy, sorry, retro album later, Mansun are back!
Yes, they do all the old hits and yes, they actually sound alright, although a few arrangements have changed slightly.
But it was the recent material that stood out on Wednesday night, especially tunes taken from their return-to-form album Little Kix.
Tracks like I Can Only Disappoint U and Electric Man sounded excellent, but the good old favourites like Stripper Vicar and Wide Open Space still had a bit of bite.
It was certainly good to see the boys playing the smaller venue, obviously to a sell-outcrowd.
Look out for a full arena tour next year - if it is as good as this then it should be a cracker!
