THERE WAS disappointing end to the run of the Hampshire Tennis & Health Club mixed tennis team in the national AT Kearney Inter-Club Challenge.
The Hampshire team were looking for revenge against Finchley Manor, who beat them in last year's semi-final.
Liz Burge and Lynn Skerrett, took their opponents to a first-set tie break but eventually went down 7-6 6-1.
The Hampshire men's pair of Adam Smith and Mark Jackson broke serve to take a 2-0 lead but lost 6-4 6-3.
Hampshire team captain Mark Jackson said: " The team have played well thoughout the tournament but it's a bit disappointing to lose at home in the quarter-finals, though we shall look forward to playing in the tournament again next year."
*Southampton's Craig Longland lost in the first round of the Girobank Tour event at Taunton. Longland lost 6-2 6-2 against Yorkshire's B Gudzelak.
