Riverdance without the dancers is one way to describe the music of Tim O'Brien, who is appearing at The Anvil, Basingstoke, tonight.
Hailing from Nashville, Tim is on tour playing songs from his concept album The Crossing, which he likens to a journey between America and his Irish roots, inspired by the English, Irish, Scottish immigration experience.
Tim is described as a multi-instrumentalist who also sings bluegrass and Irish and English folk tunes.
He appears with a group of musicians chosen especially for this tour. They include English folk singer Kate Rusby, winner of the BBC Folk Award's Album of the Year and 1999 Mercury Award nominee; one of Scotland's most successful young musicians, John McCusker, on fiddle; picker Darrell Scott; ex-Fairport Convention band member Danny Thompson and Mairtin O'Connor who played music for the Riverdance stage show.
Tickets for Tim O'Brien and The Crossing are available from The Anvil box office 01256 844244.
