PROVISIONAL approval has been granted for a block of ten bed-sitting rooms in Rumbridge Street, Totton, to be converted into seven one-bedroom flats and a warden's flat.
Totton and Eling Town Council had objected to the proposals lodged by Hampshire Voluntary Housing Association, saying it lacked adequate parking and a children's play area.
But New Forest District Council development control sub-committee authorised approval after a report revealed the previous hostel-type accommodation had not been financially viable and that the project would take people from the housing needs waiting list.
