Norwich came back from the dead on Saturday to breathe life into their season.

The Canaries clocked their first home win of the season by roaring back from 2-0 adrift to beat Sheffield United 4-2.

And, again like Pompey, they're showing signs of putting a sluggish start of the season behind them.

Although it was their first home full monty of the season, Norwich had grabbed some useful successes on the road, not least a 3-2 win at high-flying West Bromwich Albion.

But they've still got a lot of ground to make up to fulfil their pre-season ambition of a top six spot.

Players like Phil Mulryne and Matt Jackson are slowly returning after long-term injuries but Norwich's biggest problem is closing the class gap since selling Craig Bellamy to Coventry City for £3million.

That gap had been partly closed by the permanent signing of Gaetano Giallanza, a Swiss-Italian striker-midfielder recruited on a Bosman from Nantes, thus swapping one set of Canaries for another.

Giallanza was the price Norwich paid for their first win on Saturday, stretchered off with a knee injury, which is likely to keep him out against Pompey.

That could open the door for Steve Claridge's old mate Tony Cottee as the partner up front for big, front man Iwan Roberts.
