EASTLEIGH MP David Chidgey presented Hampshire mum Sue Cooke with a framed photograph capturing the moment he met her soldier son Shaun Martin during visit to wartorn Kosovo.
Mr Chidgey met Shaun and other soldiers from his constituency who were serving with the Royal Green Jackets as part of "K-For".
He said: "I was able to tell Mrs Cooke how well her son's regiment had performed in Kosovo in very difficult conditions.
"Everyone I met on my visit with the Foreign Affairs Committee had nothing but praise for the Royal Green Jackets.
"They were the mainstay of K-For's peace-keeping success."
Mrs Cooke, of Hedge End, was delighted to receive the memento of the MP's meeting with her son.
The proud mum said Shaun would be back in the Balkans with his regiment again next year - this time in Bosnia.
Mr Chidgey said: "It is a great relief that Slobodan Milosovic has at last been overthrown in Yougoslavia.
"But the Balkan crisis is far from over and Bosnia is as turbulent as ever.
"The presence of British regiments has proved to be vital in keeping the peace in these troubled countries."
