ATTEMPTS are still being made to keep Eastleigh's first "Walk to School Bus" on route despite a conductor crisis.
The lollipop lady who shepherds the daily convoy across one of the busiest roads in Chandler's Ford retires tomorrow.
With no replacement on the horizon it has put a big question mark on whether the Walk to School Bus scheme can keep running after the half term holiday.
The eco-friendly school run has been highly successful since it was launched at the beginning of the year.
Mums on the North Millers Dale estate are on a rota of volunteers who escort about 12 children on their daily trek to Hiltingbury Infant and Junior Schools.
But lollipop assistance is needed to get the crocodile of schoolchildren and their chaperones across the busy Hursley Road.
In a determined bid to keep the wheels rolling on the Walk to School Bus the North Millers Dale Community Association carried out a leaflet blitz to find a new lollipop patrol.
Posters have also been put up in schools and the county council has also advertised the post in the press.
But a spokesperson for the North Millers Dale Community said: "There has been no feedback but we still hope to keep the Walk to School Bus going somehow."
Mums have even considered training for lollipop duties to keep the walking bus firmly on route.
