SOME of the original members of the "Chain Gang" made tracks for the Eastleigh Railway Institute for a trip down memory lane.
They were among the town's teenagers - many of them from the local railway works - who rolled up their sleeves and built their own club.
That was back in the late thirties and the Eastleigh Boys' Club in Bishopstoke Road became one of the best known boys clubs in Hampshire.
The club, now called The Capital continues its tradition for bringing the best out of youngsters.
Ex-members turned back the clock to those Chain Gang days at a reunion organised by the Eastleigh Boys' Club Old Boys' Association.
More than 100 took part in the get together, including Vince Haw-kins, who in his young days at the Bishopstoke Road club laid the foundations for a boxing career which saw him become the British middleweight champion.
Deputy mayor presented a plaque to Malcolm Wright in memory of his father Alderman G W A Wright who was chairman of the Eastleigh Boys' Club from 1943 to 1949.
