MERLIN the cat may have used up one of his nine lives when he was hit by a car but he could have lost the rest had it not been for a kindly passer-by.
The one-year-old moggie was lucky to escape with just a broken tooth and a few gashes when he was hit by the vehicle near Enham Arch on the Newbury Road, Andover on Monday evening.
But owner Steph Kelly, of Robin Way, Swallowfields, Andover, said of his rescuer: "We dread to think what might have been if she hadn't come along.
"Unfortunately, we didn't think to take her name or phone number to thank her personally, but if she is reading this, please accept our very grateful thanks."
