VILLAGERS in Broughton turned out in force at the weekend to witness the unveiling of three works of art for the village. The sculptures - a millennium project funded by Test Valley Borough Council - were unveiled by Test Valley Mayor Cllr Tony Hope. The first sculpture, a village sign, had been a long- standing proposal and wood carver Jeremy Turner was commissioned to make the piece. The special sign features many key images of Broughton, including the dovecotes, Well House, the former Wheelright shop and the pound. Two other sculptures are situated in Clarendon Way. A bird sculpture, crafted out of Portland stone, was created by Zoe De L'Isle Whittier and a set of stools were the work of Roger Stephens who based the idea on stalks of corn.
