A TEENAGER escaped serious injury yesterday after her car crashed down an embankment and flipped on to its roof.
The 19-year-old woman had just driven over a railway bridge at Jones Lane, Hythe, when her Renault Prima went out of control.
It crashed through a wire fence, flattening one of the concrete posts, and careered down a grass bank beside the bridge.
The vehicle came to rest just yards from the entrance to a car wash at the Shell garage in Southampton Road.
Police say the driver was trapped in the wreckage.
But she was already out of the car when Hythe firefighters arrived to right the vehicle and make the scene safe.
The driver, who comes from Hythe, is thought to have suffered a minor wrist injury.
Witnesses are asked to ring the traffic unit at Lyndhurst police station on 0845 045 4545 with any information.
