FAULTY brakes led to a light aircraft running off the runway at Southampton Airport, an investigation revealed.
The pilot of the twin engine Beech 58 was taxiing for takeoff when the aircraft failed to execute a turn, rolled off the tarmac and became bogged down in soft ground.
No-one was hurt in the accident, which occurred on April 27. The aircraft sustained minor damage to a propeller and its landing gear.
The cause of the problem was later traced to a defective valve on the braking mechanism of the plane's right wheel.
The probe was carried out by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, Farnborough, Hampshire.
