POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a birthday party turned into a fist fight at a venue near Hythe.
Five people needed hospital treatment after the punch-up at the Esso Social Club in Long Lane, Holbury on Friday.
Police want to know how celebrations to mark the 18th birthdays of three local girls could have turned into mass assault.
Pc Elliot Campbell from Hythe said: "At least five people were injured, including a 15-year old girl.
"One man was quite seriously hurt by kicks and punches to his body and head. Several police units attended to deal with incidents which were happening both inside and outside the club.
"We want information from anyone who lives nearby or was passing the club at around 11pm that night, to help us piece together what caused the trouble."
One unnamed man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fight. Call Hythe police on 0845 045 4545.
