AFTER going for gold, two former Hampshire students went for a bus ride around the city to help celebrate a unique double.
Olympic champions Ben Ainslie and Iain Percy, who both went to Peter Symonds' College at Winchester, took to the open-top bus, festooned with balloons and complete with a brass band, as the city honoured them.
The bus took the two young men, who both won their gold medals in sailing at Sydney last month, through the streets and cheering crowds.
Friends Iain, who comes from Winchester, and Ben, from Lymington, waved at well-wishers before they disembarked at the Guildhall for a civic reception with Winchester mayor Georgie Busher.
Later they went back to their old college in Owens Road for lunch and to meet up with their former teachers.
