CONTROVERSIAL plans for more holiday chalets at a Winchester golf course have been thrown out by city planners.
City councillors went against their officers' advice and look set to reject plans by South Winchester Golf Club at Oliver's Battery for nine holiday chalets on the course near Millers Lane.
The planning committee said it was minded to reject the plan but it deferred the decision for its officers to formally draw up the reasons.
The proposals were strongly opposed with 28 objections including residents living in Oliver's Battery, Hursley Parish Council, Winchester Residents Association, Hampshire Wildlife Trust and the Council for the Protection of Rural England.
