Basingstoke entertain Reading in a National League 3 South match at Down Grange tomorrow with both clubs acutely aware this game is vital to their prospects of avoiding relegation even at this early stage of the season.
Reading have picked up just two points from three outings but Basingstoke have nothing at all to show for their efforts in three games.
However, Basingstoke did manage a morale-boosting first win of the season last week when defeating Oxford University II 34-17 in a friendly, so perhaps that will provide them with the lift they require in a game they must be targeting as a win.
Winchester have made a similarly poor start in London 1, but they have played only two league matches. Tomorrow's visit to Thurrock offers a wonderful opportunity to break their duck against a side which has also lost twice.
Havant are flying high in this league but face a stiff test against Staines at Hooks Lane.
Work commitments and injuries mean Adam Jewitt switches to centre, Steve Stapleton to full-back, Syd Claffey to fly-half and Matt Kell to lock, while Nick French and Paul Gair are recalled.
Portsmouth have Ryan Goodyear making his debut at hooker for the London 3 South West visit of Dorking and Nick Ettery returns to the back-row to captain the side.
Tottonians face their stiffest test to date in 4 South West when they visit fellow joint leaders Cobham. Andy Friend resumes at lock and this allows Alastair Remus to revert to flanker, while Steve Broomfield is preferred on the wing.
Southampton have been bedevilled by injuries and player unavailability.
Again they are forced into changes for the visit of Cobham. Wayne Allen and Alan Butler are recalled to the pack, but Dave Griffiths and Paul Beaton are unavailable in the backs. This means Tony Cador and Tony Morgan form a new centre partnership, with Martyn Sheridan switching to the wing and Mark Gordon brought in at full-back.
Trojans are the form team in Hampshire 1 and their visit to Ventnor will be interesting with the hosts seemingly struggling for forwards this term.
Tristan Allan returns at centre and James Pennington makes his first appearance of the season for Trojans at full-back.
Romsey are unbeaten to date in this league and visit Hamble who will be boosted by a win at New Milton a fortnight ago.
Jonathan Heal moves to fly-half for Romsey, with Simon Coe moving to centre and John Livingston brought in on the wing.
Millbrook hope a change of strip will bring a change of fortune when they visit Petersfield.
Instead of their red and green hoops, Millbrook anticipate their new rugby league style shirts with a chevron being available tomorrow. Virgil Seal makes his seasonal debut at lock and Dean Weaver returns at flanker, while Chris Ings resumes at centre and Richard Wyer and Ratu Degei come in as wingers.
