City of Southampton won comfortably at the Quays - but perhaps the story of the gala was Hamble Aquatics' fine performance.

Just one late relay disqualification came between Hamble and second place. Instead, they gave best to Bracknell by just five points.

Hamble's stars were under-11s Ryan Lisk - with his best result yet, winning the under-11 50m breaststroke (47.59pb) - and Jacob Lee, first in the 25m butterfly (17.34pb).

They were joined on the winner's podium by two under-12s - Kieron Carroll (50m backstroke) and double winner Luke de-ste-Croix (50m butterfly and freestyle).

For City, regular star Emma Wicks picked up a hat-trick of golds - in the under-13 50m freestyle and butterfly and up an age-group in the under-14 100m individual medley (1.15.06pb).

Emma Macey (under-12) won both backstroke and butterfly, with Luke Fitzhorswell (under-13) another double winner, in the backstroke and freestyle. Sarah Brown won the under-13 breaststroke, Charlie Butterwick the under-14 50m backstroke and Callum Perry the 100m butterfly.

City's B team finished winless but under-12 Angela Fu, in her first gala, produced two impressive swims to place second in both breaststroke and butterfly.

Two of Penguins B's five wins came from Lloyd Terry, in the under-14 100m individual medley (1.17.78pb) and backstroke. Sarah Kemp won the under-12 freestyle, Alex Ward the breaststroke, and Becky Ford the under-14 backstroke, while Sam Knight and Rebecca Meads each clocked fast times for silvers in the under-14 100m breaststroke and freestyle respectively.

Result: City of Southampton A 281, Bracknell 225, Hamble Aquatics 222, Isle of Wight 205, Hart 203, Winchester B 148, Southampton B 113.
