Southampton Diving Academy's latest top-flight recruit, Stephen Hill, was a clear winner in the senior three-metre springboard as the Academy's men dominated the GBDF Southern Counties championship event at the Quays.
Hill was joined on the podium by brothers Andrew Appleby (silver) and Robert Appleby (bronze) - Robert just beating veteran Tony Hunter to the medal in a tight four-way contest for third to sixth places. Nicola Kirrane (Reading Albatross DC) won the women's title.
Hunter secured the masters platform title - but the National Masters champion had the shine taken off his win by a sad lack of competition.
The combination of little advance publicity and a Masters training camp the previous weekend left Hunter and women's winner Jenny Cluskey (Amersham) as almost the only masters there.
They'll face more competition - and probably have more fun - at the Winter Nationals in Derby (November 4-5), which tend to feature a more relaxed approach and eclectic series of events than the 'main' National Masters, at which Hunter picked up three titles last spring.
