HAMPSHIRE cricket Society have swung from one extreme to the other in naming Peter Hartley as the county's Player of the Year.
Hartley, who reached 40 during this season and will be English cricket's senior player next season, is the oldest ever recipient of the Hampshire Society's award and follows last year's winner Dimi Mascarenhas who was the youngest ever.
Hartley took 54 first-class wickets at an average of 21.77 and 183 runs at an average of 20.37. He also claimed 17 CGU National League wickets at an average of 28.47.
