FIREWORKS, frights and fanfares all went off with a bang as thousands flooded to the New Forest for Beaulieu's Great Spooks and Sparks Fireworks Fair.

The South's most spectacular fireworks display set to music was the highlight of a day crammed full with ghostly goings-on and all the fun of the fair.

The Daily Echo-sponsored event held in the grounds of the National Motor Museum on Saturday reached a fiery climax with the lighting of the bonfire followed by a 20-minute breath-taking display of orchestrated pyrotechnics.

This followed a day of fairground attractions and Hallowe'en treats including stories, phantom cars and the spooky Palace House.

With an array of witches, ghouls, skeletons and demons walking the grounds, it seemed many were intent on having a "wail" of a time.

Even an afternoon downpour couldn't dampen the spirits or the fireworks which later lit up the clear skies. Once the bangers and rockets had gone the fun carried on with the motor museum itself staying open late.
