Irish publishing chiefs are planning to build a brand new newspaper publishing complex just outside Dublin - and are using Newscom's Daily Echo centre at Redbridge, Southampton, as their model.
Executives, management and union representatives from the Irish Independent are making a series of visits to the Redbridge plant to see the Daily Echo in action. They've already ordered German- made Geoman presses similar to those in use at Redbridge.
The newspaper is planning to begin work on its new site at City West, Dublin, in January.
It aims to have the presses rolling by November or December next year.
