Hamble Old Boys appear to be the Jekyll and Hyde team in Hampshire League Division 1 this season.
In their previous match, the Old Boys had thumped Alton 7-1 but at Hamble last weekend they slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Petersfield despite dominating most of the match.
Hamble controlled large sections of a one-sided affair forcing some 17 short corners and creating numerous chances which their forwards all somehow squandered and they paid the price as Petersfield then hit them with two breakaway goals.
Their second XI lifted spirits at the club with a convincing 6-0 win over Old Edwardians at the Sports Centre, Andy Hattimore led the way with a hat-trick and further efforts from Paul Edwin, Ian Akhurst and Mark Sandall - on his 550th appearance for the club - completed their tally.

The Hampshire Under-14 training squad won a warm-up match against Hertfordshire 3-1 after falling behind, Andrew McIntosh (2) and Kent Landridge were their scorers.
Southampton Ladies were without a first team fixture whilst the seconds were beaten 4-1 by table-topping Basingstoke after holding out until just before half-time - Amy Barrow netting their consolation goal.
Fareham's keeper saved a penalty stroke as Southampton III lost 2-0 and a battling display from the fourths saw them earn a point in a goalless draw with Farnborough II.
A hat-trick from Mary Aickin steered Southampton V to a 4-1 success against IBM Nomads, Laura Please notching a fourth, and Chloe Grimmett also grabbed a hat-trick as the Under-19s came from behind to triumph 3-1 away at Havant.
City of Portsmouth Ladies II gained their first Hampshire 1 league point of the season in a dour goalless draw with New Milton and Jackie Edney equalised for COP III before they finally succumbed 4-1 to Andover.
Goals from Alison Darlow and Cath West gave COP IV a 2-1 lead against Petersfield II before a late penalty saw them share the points, whilst four-goal Abby Roach inspired COP Under 19s to an emphatic 5-2 win over Gergarians, Jo Reader adding a fifth.
