GREAT South Run competitor Andrew Warner visited the Hampshire KIDS Family Centre at Fareham to present a £305 cheque to the Salterns Lane centre for its Reach for the Stars appeal.
He raised the cash through sponsorship for his running exploits. He completed the run in one hour, 14 minutes.
Andrew, who works for Fareham Borough Council, was accompanied by work colleague Andrea Palmer. Her son, Callum, two, has spina bifida and attends developmental play sessions at the centre.
When Andrea heard that Andrew was running, she told him about KIDS and he decided to raise money for them.
KIDS, a national charity, believes that all children deserve opportunities to spread their wings and 'reach for the stars'. The charity provides many and varied services for children with special needs and their families.
Community fundraiser Claire Coxwell said: "Andrew has done really well to raise so much money. It will go straight into our Reach for the Stars appeal, which is aiming to raise £10,000 by the millennium."
