SOLENT Stars pressed home the advantage to demolish local rivals Southampton Trailblazers 89-52 in the National Basketball League Cadet Men's Division 3 South.
Stars quickly hit their stride to lead 42-20 at half-time and their only worry was that playmaker James Davies (pictured) had picked up three fouls.
Their second-half display proved every bit as effective, however, as they stretched away for a 37-point win.
Guymon heaped praise on guard Davies (33 points) and forward Stuart Rutter (24) for their weighty contributions, Steve Taggert produced a tireless defensive display and Stuart Ibbs is becoming comfortable at national level.
Only the rebounding looked ordinary but Stars hope to correct that at Reading Rockets on Saturday when Gavin Hart returns from county rugby duty.
Highlight for Southampton was Ashley Roberts' continuing good form as he top-scored with 20.
Solent scorers: James Davies 33, Stuart Rutter 24, Stuart Ibbs 10, David Ewen 8, Craig Hughes 4, Martin Lavender 4, Ryan Barnett 2, Tim Heron 2, Matt Rodrigues 2.
Southampton scorers: Ashley Roberts 20, David Pountain 10, Jon Fernandes 7, Joe Finnegan 6, Darren MacAskill 4, Richard Froud 3, Mark Radford 2.
Solent Stars juniors lost 76-73 to Northampton in a friendly while Trail-blazers juniors tanned Brighton Bears 68-44 in the National Under-18 Cup.
