STUNNED pupils at a Southamp-ton school were in safe hands when Saints goalkeeper Paul Jones kicked off a week of maths activities.
The popular Number One was a surprise guest of honour as Sinclair Junior School in Lordshill launched a maths week to promote the new numeracy hour. He launched a series of competitions for the youngsters to follow aimed at showing the fun side of sums. Headteacher Trevor Hall, who arranged the visit, said: "They had a couple of hints as to who was coming but they were all gobsmacked when he walked in.
"Many of the children are Saints fans." As well as competitions, the pupils took part in outdoor numbers games and shared a workshop with parents.
