NEWPORT and Havant & Waterlooville have landed the toughest possible assignments in the FA Umbro Trophy second round.
While the Islanders travel to Ryman League Premier Division leaders Enfield on Saturday, November 27, H&W face a daunting trip to Nationwide Conference pace-setters Rushden & Diamonds - providing they get through tonight's replay at Aylesbury United (7.45).
"It's a superb draw and a great incentive to win tonight," said H&W boss Billy Gilbert, who has James Taylor and Timmy Hambley still suspended and rates former Republic of Ireland defender Liam Daish only 50-50 with hamstring trouble.
H&W are hatching plans to capture Danny Hinshelwood from Bognor. The right-sided player, son of Gilbert's former Crystal Palace colleague Martin, should be in the squad for Saturday's Dr Martens League Premier Division trip to Newport County.
Basingstoke head to Bognor for tonight's Trophy replay (7.45) knowing that the prize on offer is yet another confrontation with Ryman League Premier Division rivals Walton & Hersham who have already lost once and won once at the Camrose Ground this season.
Stoke boss Ernie Howe has revealed that he tried to solve his side's desperate lack of firepower by tabling a substantial offer for Aylesbury's prolific former Stevenage marksman Gary Crawshaw, but the player turned the move down.
Young wide player Lee Chuddy is promoted from Stoke's reserves to join a Bognor-bound squad shorn of Paul Hardiman (thigh) and Mark Xavier (hamstring) who were injured in Saturday's 1-1 draw.
Bashley have the incentive of a home draw - albeit a difficult one against Dr Martens League Premier Division high flyers Newport County - if they dispose of Romford in tonight's Recreation Ground replay (7.45).
Encouragingly for Barry Blankley's men, Romford's first-choice keeper Stuart Horne is suspended.
Salisbury City's Trophy brief is also a tough one. Having dispensed with Tonbridge 2-0, Geoff Butler's men face a much stiffer home test against Conference outfit Sutton United.
