WANTAWAY defender Danny Rofe is facing disciplinary action at Salisbury.

The son of Saints' reserve team coach, Dennis, has been transfer-listed at his own request but refuses point-blank to turn out for Whites' reserves.

He travelled to Worcester with the first-team squad on Saturday but turned his back on Salisbury's post-match training ritual for players who have had no involvement in the game.

Rofe signed a two-year contract for Salisbury back in February and manager Geoff Butler said: "I don't under-stand what Danny hopes to achieve.

"We've said he can leave the club, but while he's still here and we're still paying him he's treated as a squad member. Since he missed three games due to work commitments, it was not unreasonable to ask him to play in the reserves."

Whites, up to eighth in the Dr Martens League Premier Division, tonight (7.45) entertain an in-form Newport County side who are unbeaten in seven league games and lie fourth in the table.

Midfielder Robbie Harbut limped off at Worcester with a twisted knee and is struggling along with Tyronne Bowers and Matthew Pearson, but striker Paul Sales has an outside chance of being fit.

Basingstoke, stunned by two last-minute goals from St Albans City on Saturday, travel to Harrow Borough in the Ryman League Premier Division.

"It was disappointing the way the St Albans game finished but overall it was the best we'd performed all season," said manager Ernie Howe.

Derek Simpson and Andy Morley return, but Aaron Roberts (suspended) and Gus Hurdle (hamstring) are non-starters.
