FLOWER power hit Fair Oak Village Hall as green-fingered villagers made hay while the sun shone.
A bumper crop of entries filled the Shorts Road hall for the Fair Oak Gardening Club's 11th open horticultural show.
Judges were impressed with the high standard of entries which covered everything from pot plants to onions.
For the first time this year there was an art and craft section.
Leading the field in the prize-winning stakes was Richard Harder, who captured the Sidney Toms Cup for clinching the most points in the show.
He also won the Haskins Cup for the most points in the flowers and pot plants sections, the Hold Trophy for the best fuchsia and the Fair Oak cup for the best exhibit in the pot plants section.
It was also a blooming good day for show secretary Marian Hatt, who scooped the Dahlia Shield, the Eassons Trophy for arts and crafts and the Percy Russell Memorial Cup for cookery.
Harold Price was the winner of the George Johnson Shield for getting most points in the vegetables and fruit section.
The Arthur Cant Shield for the most points in floral exhibit section went to Maralyn Andrews. Meanwhile the Mae Kerr Shield for the most points in the roses classes was won by Robert Evans. And the secretary's trophy went to Mrs Lyn Morris.
