AN unpleasant discovery was made by workers on the historic Droxford Village Hall.
The 150-year-old building is currently being refurbished, thanks to a £77,550 lottery grant.
But now more money has had to be raised by the hall committee to fight an unexpected fungus found under the floorboards.
The hall, which used to be used as the village school, is undergoing major refurbishment, including a new kitchen, ceiling and floor.
Once finished, the original beams will be exposed and the toilet will be suitable for wheelchair users.
The project is set to be completed this month.
