THINGS are beginning to look rosy again after fears that Eastleigh's showcase horticultural event was in danger of wilting away.
Concern was growing that the show, which is being staged in the town's Swan Centre on September 11, could have been the last.
Since it was launched about 14 years ago, the event, which is always of a high standard, has blossomed.
But in recent years, lack of financial support threatened its future.
Now, as organisers prepare for the latest exhibition, they have been buoyed by news that could keep the show firmly rooted on the local calendar.
Chairman and organiser Mike Buckingham said: "We were thinking that this could be the last show." But, he said: "A local organisation has contacted me about the possibility of the show carrying on.
"We will be discussing ideas at the next committee meeting and hopefully the show will continue, although probably at a different venue."
He said that over the years the Eastleigh show had set a very high standard and attracted entries from across the South.
"Despite the financial restrictions, we have managed to keep the show on the local calendar.
"It has become one of the top shows in the area and it would be a shame to lose it.
"And if you lose Eastleigh then you tend to lose other shows as well."
