WALKERS can savour a Titanic experience in Southampton on Friday.
A local history guided walk has been launched on the theme of the ill-fated liner, which sank with the loss of 1,500 lives on her maiden voyage between Southampton and New York in 1912.
Entitled Southampton's Titanic Story, the walk will graphically describe the best-known maritime tragedy of this century against the backdrop of associated city centre landmarks.
Many of the crew lived in Southampton and the sinking disaster had a profound effect on the city.
Anyone who wants to know more about Southampton's Titanic connections should meet outside the Maritime Museum, Town Quay, at 7pm.
Admission costs £5 for adults and £3 for accompanied children. The route is suitable for disabled people and the walk will finish at approximately 8.40pm.
