A SOUTHAMPTON charity has launched a new bus advertising campaign to raise its profile in the city.
The Jubilee Sailing Trust is using ten buses and emblazoning them with posters saying: Have You Seen Her
"She" is the new wooden ship being built at Jubilee Yard, Hazel Road, in Woolston When the ship is completed it will be the largest wooden ship in the world and enable the charity to take even more able-bodied and physically disabled crew to sea on equal terms.
The charity's other ship, the Lord Nelson, is often over-subscribed for voyages.
Campaign organisers hope that the bus advertising will draw attention to the charity and bring people to Jubilee Yard.
Event co-ordinator Amy Thompson said: "The idea behind the posters on the buses is to get people to come to the yard and see this amazing ship being built.
"Next year we are hoping for a lot of national coverage, but we want people from the city to already know what the trust is doing."
The visitor centre at the ship is open from seven days a week between 10am and 4pm and visitors are able to see the ship in all her glory from an observation walkway.
The name of the ship will be officially unveiled on September 10 at the Southampton International Boat Show.
Fundraisers still have £2.5 million left to raise before they hit their target of £14 million to pay for the construction of the new ship.
However, they are confident they will achieve this before the end of the year.
