POLICE hunting a man in connection with the murder of a South Coast spinster have turned their attention to the New Forest.
Detectives want to quiz Ray-mond Price over the bludgeoning of 87-year-old Jean Barnes at her Worthing home on July 26.
They have taken the unusual step of naming Mr Price, 57, and releasing his photograph.
They also want to question him over at least 20 deceptions across the South using the same method.
A police spokesman said: "The man asks to borrow money on the pretence that his car has broken down and needs to catch a train.''
One of the deceptions is believed to have taken place at Lyndhurst on July 2.
There was a possible sighting of Mr Price in Ringwood on August 13 and in the Cathedral Close area of Salisbury on August 16.
