TROJANS require a maximum 37 points from their final two matches against Winchester KS and Easton & Martyr Worthy to be assured of the Hampshire League County Division 1 championship.

They are eight points ahead of Rowledge after a 74-run win over Purbrook, Nigel le Bas (38) and Paul Douglas (22) rescuing Trojans from a worrying 103-7.

Trojans' eventual 153-9 proved beyond Purbrook, who plunged to 79 all out (Jamie Donaldson 4-17, Douglas 3-21).

Rowledge, chasing a reduced 63-run target, whipped New Milton by ten wickets after Milton's disappointing 93-9 had been cut following a rain interruption.

Third-placed Hook & Newnham Basics and St Cross Symondians were both hit by the rain but Sparsholt won by nine wickets at Lymington - after starting with only seven men!

Four Sparsholt players were delayed in a Lyndhurst traffic snarl-up and it was not until the 11th over that the Winchester club got a full compliment of players on the field. Jerry Holt (46) and Stu Simkins (33) took full advantage of wholesome gaps in the field but despite an unbeaten 53 by Neil Trestrail, Lymington's 152-3 was not enough.

Jerry Frith (77) and Bill Gunyon (46 not out) effectively ended Lymington's hopes with a 130-run opening partnership.

Andy Taylor (4-11), Damien Carson (3-10) and Guy Lewis (3-30) sent Antelope & Castle crashing to 67 all out and a nine-wicket defeat against United Services at Burnaby Road.

Alan Sewell (66) and James Scott (4-21) set up Portsmouth's nine-wicket victory over relegation-haunted Winchester KS II while not even the rain could prevent Easton & Martyr Worthy from a ten-wicket defeat by OTs & Romsey.

Six Division 2 matches were wrecked by the wet weather which was unable to save the end of Sarisbury Athletic's Division 3 promotion hopes, effectively dashed by a 19-run defeat at Hambledon.

Rowner kept in touch with Division 4 pace-setters Ventnor and Bramshaw but a four-wicket defeat at a Mark Mellett- inspired Easton II saw Locks Heath bowled off the top of Division 5.

A century from Ian McGill set up Bramshaw's 73-run victory over Calmore which sealed the New Forest League Division 1 title.

With support from Sam Reeves (40), McGill (100) took Bramshaw to 162-3. Graham Kinchington followed his 3-54 with an unbeaten 52 but he had no support as wickets fell to McGill (3-16) and Calmore managed just 89-7.

Dave Bradley (35) and David Singleton (31) steered West Moors to 142 with Chris Hewlyns (4-49) the best of the attack for Camelot who finished on 134-9 (Jeff Broomfield 37 not out, Eddie Jeans 4-48).

Alan Sturgess (5-23) helped restrict Exbury to 122-9 (Alf Clark 45) and despite good bowling from Keith Bendall (6-37), Esso scraped to a two-wicket win through Mitch Godden (42) and Dave Shears (21 not out).

In Division 2 Hordle Village held on to their lead when they beat Fordingbridge's 127-7 (Mike Andrews 3-46) by five wickets thanks to Simon Harwood (41) and Alex Rubycz (39). Other results:
