FORMER Bashley skipper Dave Morris has vowed never to play for the club again.
The Bournemouth-based defender, currently sidelined with a knee injury, blames bad housekeeping by the New Forest club for their current plight of strapped finances and virtually no senior players.
"Barry Blankley and Jimmy Case are different class as managers but they've got a momentous task to keep the club in the Dr Martens League with so many youngsters in the side," he said. "The club has been messed up behind the scenes and I shall not play for them again, because it got to the stage where I wasn't enjoying my football."
Morris is upset to see the finger of blame being pointed at last season's top scorer James Taylor, who joined Havant & Waterlooville for nothing after successfully winning a breach of contract case against Bashley.
"Had they handled things better Bashley would have got a fee for James last season but they wanted stupid money for him," he said. "How can they now turn round and blame the player"
Bash - defeated 1-0 in their Eastern Division opener at Stamford on Saturday - entertain Tonbridge tonight, while Newport - home to Burnham - need to make amends for their 1-0 opening-day defeat at Raunds. Injured duo Graeme Gee and Lee Dent again miss out for the Islanders.
Salisbury boss Geoff Butler heads into tonight's DML Premier Division home clash against Merthyr Tydfil in suprisingly good spirits after Saturday's 6-0 collapse at Boston.
"We played our best football in a long time between the areas and, if we'd been 3-1 up at half-time, they couldn't have complained," he said. "Trouble is, we don't know how to defend." Whites have doubts over Paul Sales (knee) and Tyronne Bowers (ankle).
Premier newboys Havant & Waterlooville are unchanged for their trip to fellow promoted side Margate. Ville lost 2-0 at home to Tamworth on Saturday but manager Billy Gilbert stressed: "Our performance was very encouraging."
Basingstoke's top pre-season marksman Tommy Killick is doubtful for the Ryman League Premier Division visit of Aylesbury after being whacked on the knee in Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Farnborough.
