CARS exported through Southampton are reaching new markets following news that luxury car manufacturer Jaguar is selling to the Dominican Republic.

Located in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, Jaguar Dominicana will operate through Viamar C. por A., a family run business with extensive motor industry experience and which has been established since 1963.

Forecasting sales of 40 cars in 1999, Ian Major from Jaguar said that the Dominican Republic would be the second Caribbean market to sell the Jaguar product range. Jaguars are sold in Puerto Rico through Jaguar Cars North America.

"The Dominican Republic has major potential and I am confident that the Jaguar product range will be a great commercial success."

Jaguar cars will be sold from a new, comprehensive sales and service complex. The eight-car showroom will extensively feature the new Jaguar S-Type which is expected to be the Dominican Republic's best-selling Jaguar.

Commenting on the opening, Oscar Villanueva who will head up Jaguar Dominicana said: "We have designed, built and equipped facilities for Jaguar cars to appeal to the rapidly growing number of luxury car buyers in the Dominican Republic.

Jaguar already has a very high reputation here and I am confident that the Jaguar range will be extremely successful in this expanding market for luxury cars."
