HAMPSHIRE are making no official comment on reports that they are tracking Lancashire's England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff.
The speculation comes in the same week that the county admitted entering preliminary talks to try and bring Shane Warne to The County Ground.
Flintoff, whose big-hitting efforts sealed Lancashire's win in the recent PPP Healthcare County Championship match against Hampshire, is still under contract at Old Trafford, where he would be a contested player at the end of the season.
Although Hampshire are thought to be monitoring the situation closely they would not be able to make any sort of approach to Flintoff at the moment, and certainly have not offered a six-figure sum as reported in some places.
Having pumped a lot of money into the refurbishment of their Old Trafford HQ, Lancashire have adopted a strict wages structure with players, and sources in Lancashire say that Flintoff is seeking more than the current £70,000 maximum.
