A TALENTED Southampton teenager has scooped first prize in a competition to design a cycle safety poster - but she doesn't know it yet.
Ruth Williams, who is aged 13, bowled over the judges with this clever design but forgot to put her address on the back of the poster.
Ruth can now collect her prize of a new mountain bike and a cycle helmet and see hundreds of copies of her poster plastered across the city.
Health promotion officer Maragret Hanson said: "We were really impressed, not just by the design, but also by the message in the poster.
"And that's why we were determined to track Ruth down, even though we didn't have her details."
The Daily Echo-backed Wear Your Cycle Helmet competition was organised by Southampton Health Promotion Services in April.
A group of teenagers helped the panel of judges decide which designs were the most eye-catching. There were two age-groups - ten-and-under and over-11s - with first, second and third prizes in each group. The other winners will be announced later this month.
Ruth came first in the over-11 category and her design will now be used to spread the safe cycling message in Southampton for several years to come with 500 posters having already been ordered.
Ms Hanson said: "We're hoping that someone she knows may spot her poster so that Ruth can get in touch with us and claim her prize.
"If you're out there, Ruth, please give me a call on 01703 784278. And congratulations!"
The winners will collect their prizes from Saints footballers at a special presentation later this month.
