WITH prime viewing of the racing on the water, over 80 guests were entertained on dry land by Red Funnel at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club to celebrate Skandia Life Cowes Week. The famous Isle of Wight event has experienced its most successful year yet with a record 900 boats taking part and a 50 per cent increase in the amount of visitors to the island.
Star guest at the luncheon was yachtswoman Ellen MacArthur. At just 22, Ellen is the youngest ever winner of the prestigious Yachtsman of the Year award following her triumphant first-place in the single-handed Route du Rhum transatlantic race.
She gave an inspirational presentation of her time at sea.
Guests were then treated to a slap-up seafood buffet which was enjoyed overlooking the racing activity.
