SOMETHING has to give at Lower Bemerton tomorrow as Winchester and South Wilts put their unbeaten records on the line (1pm).

Winchester, who had fellow high-flyers Bashley rocking at 52-4 when rain intervened last weekend, travel to Salisbury minus opening batsman Jimmy Taylor and elder brother Martin, their left-arm new-ball bowler.

Both clubs boast 100 per cent records from weather truncated starts and the South Wilts batsmen are in particularly good nick. Opener Russell Rowe has already scored two centuries.

It's no surprise that leaders Bashley are unchanged for the awk-ward visit to OTs & Romsey, who lie one place below Bournemouth in eighth spot.

OTs are without their prolific left-hand opener Charlie Forward, who is on holiday.

Portsmouth, the other unbeaten club, look likely to travel to Lymington without five regulars.

Former Hampshire left-arm spinner Raj Maru is a definite non-starter and Hampshire YC's batsman Matt Scott is ruled out with a knee injury which could also sideline him from the Board's glamorous NatWest Trophy tie against Glamorgan.

Lymington's left-arm pace bowler Dan Goldstraw could return from a serious groin injury while Les Browning and Mark Burrett may also be back. Andover face a Liphook side bolstered by the return of all-rounder Richard Lewis from Havant.

With Richard Dibden beginning to produce top form, BAT should be too strong for newly-promoted Alton, with only one win in four attempts.

Burridge have snapped up off-spinning Dorset all-rounder Tom Caines, who makes his debut at title holders Hungerford.

Caines, who has been playing in the Western League for Cheltenham, will add an extra dimension to the Burridge attack, which revolves around pace duo Paul Jenkins and Stuart Magee.

Injury-hit Hambledon face a tough ordeal against Havant, but Bournemouth know they must achieve an emphatic win over basement boys Waterlooville, at Chapel Gate, if they are to stay in touch with the pace-set- ters.

Three wins from four matches leaves Bournemouth in seventh place, 19 points adrift of Bashley, one of a quartet of clubs still boasting an unbeaten record.

Cornish all-rounder James Hands and Julian Cassell return for Bournemouth, while Dorset skipper Stuart Rintoul (fractured wrist) could return for Tuesday's Europa Cup quarter-final showdown with Havant.
