DREDGING work is under way at Cowes that will enable cross-Solent ferry company Red Funnel to operate its roll-on/roll-off vessels free from any tidal constraints.
The work is being carried out by the trailing suction hopper dredger Dolphin, which is removing around 30,000 cubic metres of silt, sand, clay and shell from the main fairway to increase the water's overall depth.
