DOG lovers at a Southampton pub have presented an animal charity with £800 worth of pet food after a sponsored walk with man's best friend.
Twenty regulars, some of whom borrowed dogs for the day, took part in the noisy outing organised by the Star and Garter in Waterloo Road, Freemantle. They completed a three-mile trip along the River Itchen in aid of Second Chance Animal Rescue in Swaythling. Pub landlady Lorraine Perry expects another £400 to be collected from sponsors. Pirates Motorcycle Club staged a barbecue and disco at the pub to round off the event.
