TEAM SOLENT'S Peter Brend and Chris Bennett were easy 400-metre winners in the British League Division 2 fixture at Cardiff.
Brend ran 47.74 to win the A string race while Bennett notched up 47.88 to take the honours in the B event.
Simon Fricket, back in action after breaking an ankle, threw 42.03m in the discus to triumph despite not being fully fit.
But the 4x100m relay team came home seventh after dropping the baton at the first changeover.
The wet and cold conditions played their part in the outcome with Solent suffering heavily after the cancellation of the high jump and pole vault.

Pole vaulter Lucy Webber celebrated her club debut with a win at Basildon in the Women's UK League Divison 3 clash.

Purkiss, who ran a 23.80-second personal best in the 200m at Bedford last week ran 11.7s to record victory in the B 100m. Coore won the A race in exactly the same time while Denham won the B 200m in 25.6.
