SOUTHERN-based Racal Electronics has pulled itself back into the black after the sell-off of its loss-making Data Communications business last year, the company announced today.
Pre-tax profits for the year to March 31 were £80.8 million, compared with a loss of £205.2 million last year.
Chairman and founder Sir Ernest Harrison said the figures "demonstrate the improvement in stability and visibility of earnings which has resulted from the disposal of the Data Communications business."
The profit was the highest achieved by the group since it demerged from the Chubb Security business in 1992.
Turnover from continuing operations rose 6.6 per cent to £928.8 million.
