BRITISH American Tobacco's UK operations plant in Southampton has announced a second year of support for local students planning to study engineering and science subjects at university.
The Millbrook-based operation has set aside around £100,000 over five years for the scheme. This year a further ten students will receive grants of £3,000 each - £1,000 per year - towards the costs of fees and books.
The bursary has been established as part of a UK Operations' community initiative, and to promote the plant's commitment to engineering and scientific excellence within UK industry.
Steve Percy, head of human resources, said: "We are keen to help people living in this community, and to promote the importance of retaining and developing engineering skills."
Application forms from Mr Percy, head of human resources, British American Tobacco, UK Operations, Regents Park Road, Millbrook, Southampton, SO15 8TL, to be in by July 28.
