BOUNCING baby is a term that suits little Chloe Chick down to the ground.
For the four-day-old girl had a more dramatic entrance into the world than most other newly-borns.
Indeed the baby, who weighed in at a healthy 6lb 5oz, almost found herself in an awkward situation. And no-one was more surprised than Chloe's mum Bianca O'Dell, when her baby popped out onto the toilet floor three days early.
The 20-year-old from Southampton was staying at her dad's house in Harefield when she woke with back pains.
She said: "I phoned my mum and she told me it wasn't labour, just the early stages and to go back to bed.
"A couple of hours later I got up to go to the toilet.
"The baby just flew out - I tried to catch her but she was too slippery. She landed with a bounce on the toilet floor."
Dad Kevin, 46, of Somerton Avenue, added: "I was in bed when I heard the bang. When I heard the crying I asked what was going on. Bianca just said, Dad, I've had the baby.' She picked the baby up, handed her to me and I put her into bed before calling the ambulance."
Chloe was taken to the Princess Anne Hospital where she was given a clean bill of health. Now baby and mother are safely resting with the rest of the family and Bianca's mum. And it turns out that the unusual birth was in keeping with family tradition.
Mum Jennifer White, who has had nine children herself, said: "My first one happened just like that. I thought I had a bad back and 15 minutes later the baby dropped out. I've now had all nine at home."
For Bianca, whose boyfriend Anthony Chick was delighted to hold his new daughter, the whole experience has left her feeling flush. She said: "I am glad it happened so quickly - it was a total surprise."
